Ukraine brings issue of Donbas disengagement to a head

It also demanded a release of Ukrainian journalist Sushchenko.

The Ukrainian representative at the trilateral contact group on a Donbas settlement has brought the issue of disengagement of forces to a head at a video conference held by the group with the participation of representatives of certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"The Ukrainian side has brought to a head the issue of the framework agreement on the disengagement of forces and means, which was disrupted by certain areas of Luhansk Region, in particular near Stanytsya Luhanska, and of the non-observance of a cease-fire and commitments under the Minsk agreements by certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions," Darka Olifer, spokesperson for Ukrainian negotiator Leonid Kuchma, has said on Facebook.

Ukraine insists the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission must ensure permanent monitoring in the areas marked for disengagement.

Ukraine also raised the issue of its nationals held as prisoners by Russia and pro-Russian militants.

"We demanded that the Russian side release Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko," Olifer said.
