The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine instructed the city council on December 20 to reverse in a month's time its decision banning the sale of alcoholic and soft drinks in the capital from 23:00 to 10:00.
The watchdog said Kyiv's resolution was in violation of the Law On Protection of Economic Competition, ie set extra-legal prohibitions and restrictions on sale of goods.
Kyiv city council on 22 September adopted a resolution to ban the sale of alcohol at retail establishments at night. The restrictions did not apply to the sale of alcohol and beer in catering establishments and clubs, though.
A court earlier reversed the city's ban on the sale of alcohol in kiosks. However, it reversed the decision of city council on the eve of trial.
