Since the beginning of 18 January, pro-Russian militants have carried out 30 attacks against the positions of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) forces, wounding two Ukrainian servicemen, the ATO press centre said in its regular evening update on Facebook.
In the Mariupol sector, the militants pounded Talakivka with mortars. Grenade launchers and small arms were used against Slavne, Pavlopil, Hnutove, Talakivka, Novotroyitske, Shyrokyne and Vodyane. A sniper was active near Novotroyitske.
In the Luhansk sector, they fired with 120-mm mortars on Novooleksandrivka and Troyitske and with 82-mm mortars on Novozvanivka. They targeted Stanytsya Luhanska and Novozvanivka with grenade launchers and small arms. An anti-tank missile system was used against Novozvanivka.
In the Donetsk sector, the militants targeted the ATO positions near Zaytseve and Avdiyivka with grenade launchers and small arms.
A Russian national who fought alongside the militants of the self-proclaimed Donetsk people's republic was detained in the Mariupol sector, according to the ATO press centre's earlier update.
It said the man is a resident of Kurganinsk, Krasnodar Kray. He had documents on him which confirm he is a member of a militant unit.
