Over the past day, five Ukrainian troops have been killed, nine wounded and four injured in the zone of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) in Donbas, the ATO HQ said on Facebook on 30 January.

In the Mariupol sector, the enemy used BM-21 Grad multiple-launch rocket systems to pound government troops in the area of Talakivka. Militants fired Grad-P, 122-mm artillery, mortars of various calibres, grenade launchers and small arms on the ATO positions near Vodyane. They used 122-mm artillery against Lebedynske and Krasnohorivka. Hnutove, Pavlopil, Shyrokyne, Krasnohorivka and Talakivka came under fire from grenade launchers and small arms. Enemy armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles fired on Shyrokyne.

In the Donetsk sector, militants made two attempts to storm the positions of the ATO forces but had to retreat, having suffered losses. During the day, the terrorists continued firing mortars on Verkhnyotoretske, Avdiyivka, Opytne, Luhanske, Zaytseve and Kamyanka. Tanks pounded Novhorodske and Pisky.

In the Luhansk sector, the enemy fire mortars of various calibres and rocket-propelled grenades on Novooleksandrivka, Troyitske, Popasna and Novozvanivka.

On 29 January, two groups of militants tried to storm the ATO positions in the industrial zone outside Avdiyivka, killing three Ukrainian soldiers.

Avdiyivka was cut from power supply as a result of enemy shelling.
