The water supplies to Avdiyivka, Donetsk Region, stopped after a projectile hit Donetsk filter station, Deputy Prime Minister Henadiy Zubko said.
"Avdiyivka. A direct projectile hit in the filter station. The equipment stopped, people hid in a bomb shelter. The town left without water again," Zubko wrote on Facebook on 24 February.
The head of the Donetsk regional administration Pavlo Zhebrivskyy on Facebook reported that the filtering station was shelled by militants at night. Eight shells hit the station, damaged the chlorine storage, product pipeline, pure water tanks, filters, and industrial buildings. No workers were hurt. A decision on the evacuation of workers is pending.
The Donetsk filtering station, which provides water to Avdiyivka and the surrounding villages, and partially militant-controlled Donetsk and Yasynuvata has been repeatedly stopped because of the termination of electricity supply as a result of the shelling.
