Over the past day, one soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was killed and seven more were wounded in Donbas hostilities.
Russia-backed separatist forces 63 times opened fire on the positions of the ATO forces.
In the coastal sector, the enemy fired 120-mm mortars, IFV weapons, grenade launchers of various systems, heavy machine guns and small arms at the ATO positions in the vicinity of Vodyane. The enemy used 82-mm mortars, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns to pound the ATO positions near Krasnohorivka.
The defenders of Hnutovey were under the fire of 82-mm mortars, anti-aircraft guns, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms. Shyrokyne and Novotroyitske were under the fire of grenade launchers and heavy machine guns, and the ATO positions near Pavlopil and Maryinka – from grenade launchers of various systems. Ukrainian marines the area of Lebedynske were fired at from heavy machine guns and small arms, while the ATO positions near Chermalyk were attacked with small arms.

In the Donetsk sector, the enemy pounded the ATO positions in Avdiyivka from 120-mm and 82-mm mortar shells, grenade launchers of various systems, heavy machine guns and small arms. The ATO positions in the area of Luhanske were fired at from 120-mm mortars, anti-tank grenade launchers and heavy machine guns. The positions of Ukrainian troops near Nevelske were fired at from 120-mm mortars and small arms, while Butivka coalmine and Kamyanka were under the fire of 82-mm mortars and heavy machine guns. The enemy fired at the defenders of Zaitseve from IFV weapons, 82-mm mortars and grenade launchers of various systems. Ukrainian military stationed at Troyitske were under the fire of 82-mm mortars, automatic grenade launchers and heavy machine guns of the opposite party. Enemy snipers were active in the area of Avdiyivka.
In the Luhansk sector, the enemy pounded Ukrainian positions near Krymske and Novozvanivka with 120-mm and 82-mm mortars, grenade launchers of various systems and heavy machine guns. Militants used 82-mm mortars at Ukrainian troops in Katerynivka, and 82-mm mortars, anti-tank grenade launchers and heavy machine guns – at the defenders of Troyitske. The ATO positions near Novooleksandrivka were pounded with grenade launchers and heavy machine guns, and with anti-tank grenade launchers – at Valuiske and Stanytsya Luhansk.
In cases of an immediate threat to the life and health of servicemen, the commanders ordered return fire.
Four Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in Donbas on 1 May: three in the Luhansk sector, and one in the area of the Butivka coalmine (Donetsk sector).
