Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyy district court has arrested the editor in chief of the pro-Russian news website strana.ua and opposition politician, Ihor Huzhva, for two months and granted him bail of 544,000 hryvnyas (20,000 dollars).
His lawyer and ex-President Viktor Yanukovych’s former Justice Minister Olena Lukash said the bail would soon be deposited and he would be released from custody.
Huzhva was detained in Kyiv on 22 June on suspicion of extorting 10,000 dollars for not publishing information which can compromise Radical Party MP Dmytro Linko, according to Prosecutor-General Yuriy Lutsenko.
