Three Ukrainian servicemen have been wounded and one injured as a result of 28 ceasefire violations by pro-Russian militants in Donbas, the press centre of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) HQ said in its morning update on Facebook on 23 August.
According to the HQ, the militants stepped up the use of heavy weapons.
In the Mariupol (Maritime) sector, they carried out two attacks using 122-mm artillery against the ATO strongpoints near Talakivka and Vodyane, and fired at least six 152-mm artillery shells near Vodyane where there are no Ukrainian positions at all.
By the end of the day, they fired with mortars twice on the ATO strongpoints near Hnutove and with grenade launchers on Pavlopil's suburbs.
In the Donetsk sector, the situation in the industrial area of Avdiyivka remained tense. Here the militants used 120-mm mortars, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms. The ATO forces returned thick fire. One serviceman was wounded in an engagement here.
At night, the militants opened fire near Luhanske, Troyitske, Zaytseve and the Butivka mine.
In the Luhansk sector, the ATO strongpoints near Novooleksandrivka and Krymske came under fire. Two Ukrainian servicemen were wounded.
