On 21 August, the Kyiv court of appeal has left unchanged the Pecherskyy district court's ruling to arrest Opposition Bloc MP Mykhaylo Dobkin and grant him bail of 50m hryvnyas.
Thus the court of appeal refused to grant the complaint of Dobkin's defence. Its decision cannot be appealed.
On 13 July, parliament stripped Mykhaylo Dobkin of immunity. Next day he was officially declared a suspect in the case which concerns a collusion by a group of people to appropriate over 77 ha of community-owned land plots in Kharkiv, thus inflicting almost 227m hryvnyas on the state.
He is suspected of abuse of office in the interest of third parties resulting in grave consequences.
On 15 August, Kyiv's Pecherskyy district court arrested him for two months but granted him bail of 50m hryvnyas, which was paid by businessmen Vadym Novynskyy and Borys Kolesnykov.
