Three Ukrainian servicemen were wounded as a result of 25 attacks by pro-Russian militants on 18 August, the antiterrorist operation (ATO) HQ press centre said on Facebook the following morning.
As in the previous days, the industrial area of Avdiyivka was a hotspot. After 6 p.m. the militants fired on the ATO positions with mortars of various calibres, grenade launchers and a tank. Ukrainian servicemen cut short their attacks by returning fire. In one of the engagements, one Ukrainian soldier was wounded.
In the Mariupol sector, the militants targeted the ATO positions near Chermalyk with a 82-mm mortar and heavy machine guns for an hour. By the end of the day, the ATO positions near Pavlopil, Lebedynske and Shyrokyne came under enemy fire. One more soldier was wounded as a result of an enemy attack near Vodyane.
It was relatively quiet in the Luhansk sector. However, the militants occasionally used small arms and grenade launchers near Novozvanivka and Novooleksandrivka.
