Two Ukrainian servicemen reported wounded in east

Two Ukrainian servicemen were wounded as a result of 27 attacks by pro-Russian militants on 17 August, the antiterrorist operation (ATO) HQ press centre has said in its morning update on Facebook. The ATO troops returned fire on almost all the occasions.

As in the previous days, the militants were most active near the Avdiyivka industrial zone. From 18:00 to midnight, they shelled the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces five times, using mortars, grenade launchers and small arms. Near Novoselivka Druha, they fired on Ukrainian strongpoints twice.

The militants once again fired on civilian houses in Zaytseve, the HQ press centre said.

In the Luhansk sector, they opened fire near Krymske, Luhanske and Novooleksandrivka.

It was fairly quiet in the Mariupol sector at the end of the day. The militants only used an 82-mm mortar near the village of Shyrokyne.
