Defence Minister Stepan Poltorak has said that NATO insists that Ukraine's accession to the alliance should be fast-tracked.
"What changed in 2018 and even earlier, in 2016-2017? At first they observed us. Then they helped us. At the latest meeting I attended, nearly all alliance members insisted that Ukraine's accession should be fast-tracked. And this is the answer to all the allegations that 'no-one wants us there and no-one needs us," he said in the interview with Pryamyy TV.
He said Ukraine plans to join the alliance and learn how to fight.
"We need to reach standards, we need new weapons, new methods and a new system which will meet our interests," he added.
