President Petro Poroshenko has said that he will be running for a second term.
"The feeling of profound responsibility to the country, contemporaries, past and future generations prompted me to decide to run for the post of president of Ukraine once again," he said at the forum entitled "From Kruty to Brussels. We are going our way".
"I am asking voters for a mandate to guarantee the irreversibility of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the irreversibility of our independence, to restore the country's territorial integrity, bring beneficial peace to Ukraine, to complete the construction of a strong and successful state capable of ensuring order, wellbeing and security of every Ukrainian," he said. "Because wellbeing, security and order are no less important than army, language and faith."
He is confident of his chances of winning the 31 March election.
