1.7 million Ukrainians have left the country since the Russian invasion began, according to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
The Agency emphasized the importance of humanitarian aid, which should “take into account women and girls' unique needs”; “include women in decision-making” and “prioritizing protection from gender-based violence," - UNHCR reports.
Simultaneously, Reuters reports that more than 1 million Ukrainians have arrived in Poland.
“This constitutes one million human tragedies, a million people banished from their homes by the war,” the Polish border guard service tweeted.
According to EU Chief diplomat Josep Borrell, approximately 5 million people can be expected to flee Ukraine to the EU countries.
1.7 million people have fled Ukraine, mostly women and children.
