Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the EU leaders summit, dedicated to the events in Ukraine.
In his video address on March 11, the head of the state said that this summit was “long, substantial.”
“We know what all leaders said during this meeting. Who was specific, who supported us, and who was silent. And who tried to make the wording insufficient for Ukraine, Europe, and our common freedom," Zelenskyy said.
The President added that the summit results “are not what we are expecting.”
"How do we evaluate the decision made? It's straightforward - we need something stronger... We need the decisions of politicians to coincide with the mood of their peoples, European peoples. We know this mood, and they know this mood," Zelenskyy said.
He said that according to the results of the polls, the EU countries have great support for Ukraine among the population.
“There is a great support in different countries—at least 60%. And the vast majority is for Ukraine being a part of Europe. I am sure they will tell this to their politicians if the politicians do not understand it yet,” the Ukrainian President said.
Zelenskyy added that the decision of the leaders’ summit is reaching the level of the European Commission and expressed hope that “the EU should do more for us, for Ukraine and for itself. We are expecting it. All European people are expecting it.”
The meeting of the leaders of the EU member states is taking place on March 10 and 11 in Versailles and is dedicated to Ukraine. The heads of state are discussing new sanctions against Russia over the war it has started and Ukraine's European prospects.
