Four people were killed in a missile attack at the military aerodrome in Lutsk. Six people were injured.

This was announced by the mayor of Lutsk Ihor Polishchuk in the UARazom telethon live stream.

“There were approximately three explosions at nearly 5:45 am. Missiles hit the aerodrome. The consequences of this disaster are being eliminated by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. Environmentalists are working on the site. As of now, they have confirmed the information about four killed and six injured people. The degree of injury is being determined,” he noted.

Ihor Polishchuk accented, that earlier in Lutsk, a traitor who had been informing the enemy about the situation at the military aerodrome and the aircrafts movement for a decade was arrested by the Security Service of Ukraine.

“Unfortunately, there was a traitor in Lutsk. He was arrested by the officers of the Security Service of Ukraine. This is so-called aircraft enthusiast Illya Smetanin, who cooperated with the FSB (Federal Security Service – ed.) of the Russian Federation and leaked information about the military aerodrome and aircrafts movement,” the mayor said.

According to Polishchuk, environmentalists are working on the territory of the military aerodrome, because the missile hit the fuel and lubrication materials warehouse.

Specialists are currently determining the damage and studying the situation.

“Unfortunately, the civil defense system which is turned on by the militaries did not work today. It also did not work in Ivano-Frankivsk, where the military aerodrome was also attacked. At 4:37 am, civil defense system worked, and at 4:55 am all-clear signal was obtained. At 5:45 am there were missile attacks and only at 5:49 the civil defense sirens sounded, already after the explosions sounded,” the mayor of Lutsk said.

Therefore, today the militaries are establishing whether these missiles were flying at very low altitudes, which the system could not identify or whether there were other events that did not allow the militaries to give the air warning signal in time.

The Head of the Volynska Regional Military Administration Yuriy Pohulyayko said that four cruise missiles that hit the military aerodrome in Lutsk today were fired, probably, from the Black Sea.
