"Evropeiska Pravda" reports that this is stated in the Evraz'message on the website of the London Stock Exchange.

The company confirms that it has made a regular coupon payment of $ 18.9m on Eurobonds worth $ 700m to be repaid next year.

The money was sent on 16 March 2022, two days before the deadline. However, according to the paying agent, Bank of New York Mellon, the amount has not been repaid and remains blocked for receipt by the correspondent bank, Societe Generale New York.

"The eminent has received confirmation that the principal paying agent has not received payment by the end of the business day on 18 March 2022. Based on this confirmation, the eminent has notified BNY Mellon Corporate Trustee Services Limited of a potential default," - the statement says.

The company believes that the payment was blocked due to the decision of the Secretary to the Treasury of Great Britain to include Abramovych in the list of sanctioned people. He officially owns 28.64% of the company's shares, and Evraz denies that Abramovych controls the company. At the same time, this is what the United States and Great Britain pointed out in their justification for sanctions.

Evraz claims that apart from the problems with the financial infrastructure, the company has no prerequisites for default.

Evraz shares prices fell in London after Great Britain implemented new sanctions on Russia over the war in Ukraine. Subsequently, all Evraz non-executive directors resigned.
