Saboteurs can use Apple Airtag geotags to track humanitarian aid vehicles, as reported by the Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council.
It is reported that the saboteurs can place Apple Airtag geotags hidden in humanitarian aid shipments. A smartphone will receive a push message about the detection of the tag only after a few hours the tag stays near the gadget.
The Center for Counteracting Disinformation advises volunteers to turn off all geolocation tools and the “find iPhone” feature on Apple devices. It is desirable to do the same on Android devices.
The agency also advises to use Tracker Detect a special application developed by Apple to detect “foreign” tags. The application is available in the App Store and Google Play.
Humanitarian aid portal has been created in Ukraine: https://help.gov.ua. The portal has been developed jointly with the Office of the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers.
