Russia slaps prison terms on soldiers refusing to fight in Ukraine

Security Service of Ukraine [SSU] made public the story of the captured occupier who, on Feb 24, crossed the Ukrainian border from Crimea in the direction of Guliay-pole.

He told that the part of his companions had realized that they participate in the war, but not the “special operation”. They decided to refuse and even “signed some paper document. But their commander said that there was no war and they just had to walk there…”.

According to SSU, the occupier’s group was eliminated by the Ukrainian defenders. Only 9 survived out of 30 soldiers.

The prisoner of war told, that his unit also consisted of conscripts. They have signed the contract only one week before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Those who refused to sign it were sentenced to 13 years of prison.

“We are just abandoned. If it was a normal army, they would get us back, get our bodies back. But bodies of our dead soldiers are left there on the field,” – told the occupier about the actions of his command.

The prisoner of war told that he had not killed anyone and even didn’t know how to use a gun. “But whether he tells the truth and the amount of harm he did to Ukraine will be determined by prosecutors and counterintelligence service… No occupier will stay unpunished!” – admitted in SSU.

Ukrainian intelligence reported that starting the April 1 Russian Federation would start the massive mobilization according to the “BARS” program. To hide it from citizens, they will combine it with regular conscription. Russians will use prisoners in the war against Ukraine.
