"Ukraine will not agree with the passive sanctions against Russia," - Zelenskyy

International experts and the Office of the President will analyze the impact of restrictions on the aggressor country.

At the Office of the President, a group of international and Ukrainian experts will be created, who will study what is really affected by the sanctions imposed against Russia for the war against Ukraine.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a video message on the results of the 33rd day of the war.

He noted that Ukraine cannot and will not agree with the passive sanctions against Russia.

"There should be no "suspended" sanctions packages - they say, if the Russian forces do something, then there will be some kind of response... We have already passed this story last year when we said that we need powerful preventive sanctions against Russia so that there is no invasion. The preventive package was not made. A full-scale war has begun" - explained Zelenskyy.

He also mentioned that there are now many hints and warnings about tightening sanctions, for example in the form of an embargo on the supply of Russian oil to Europe, in case Russia uses chemical weapons.

"Just no words... Just think about what it has come to. Wait for chemical weapons... We, living people have to wait... Doesn't everything the Russian military has done before and already done deserve an oil embargo? Phosphorus bombs don't deserve? Shelling chemical production or shelling nuclear power plant do not deserve?" - asked Zelenskyy.

He also noted that it is very important that the sanctions packages are effective and serious enough, given what Russia is already doing against our country. If the restrictions are weak, if they can be bypassed, then this creates a dangerous illusion in the Russian leadership, as if they can allow themselves to continue what they are doing now. And Ukrainians pay for it with their lives.

"Therefore, this week we create at the Office of the President a group of Ukrainian and international experts who will constantly analyze the sanctions applied against the Russian Federation - which they really affect. Our goal is to ensure that sanctions work the way they thought they would. And that there was no way to bypass them. This should be the goal for the entire democratic world - without exceptions. No exceptions." - said Zelenskyy.

Earlier, President Zelenskyy calls on the world to apply new sanctions against Russia every week until it lacks the funds to wage war in Ukraine.
