British Defence Minister, Ben Wallace said that donor countries decided to transfer more lethal weapons to Ukraine to protect against Russian invasion. This was announced by the Head of the Office of the President, Andrii Yermak, with reference to Reuters.
"We have received good news on weapons. British Defence Minister, Ben Wallace said that as a result of the conference, the donor countries decided to provide Ukraine with more lethal weapons," - he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Earlier, British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson said that he wanted to give Ukraine "more lethal" weapons, since "the nature of the war unleashed by Russia has changed."
Yermak stressed that Ukraine needs at least air defense systems and long-range artillery.
Updated. According to The Guardian, the assistance to Ukraine will include air and coast guard systems, long-range artillery, means of countering armored vehicles, as well as training and material and technical support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Today's conference of the donor countries demonstrates the determination of the international community to support Ukraine in the face of an illegal and unprovoked invasion of Putin and Russia. We are strengthening our coordination to strengthen this military support and ensure the strengthening of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," - said Wallace.
Today's conference was initiated by Britain. Before it, Wallace noted that London wants to see "what else can be gathered from the world so that Putin does not succeed in Ukraine."
As you know, Britain is skeptical about negotiations with Russia, since it does not see Putin's willingness to end the war with a peace treaty. At this, the British emphasize that even in case of a ceasefire, London will not lift the sanctions imposed against Russia.
Earlier, the Head of the OP stressed that Ukraine needs more weapons from Western partners in order to win the war with Russia. Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk also said in an interview with Fox News that Ukraine today covers the eastern flank of NATO, so the Alliance should strengthen it with military equipment.
