The command of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine updated the information about the results of work of servicemen from the units of the AD since the beginning of the russian invasion. The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine made the announcement.

As of 8 April 2022, the Ukrainian troops destroyed and disabled about 30 air-breathing threats of the enemy, in particular, 13 aircrafts of different kinds such as Su-24, Su-25, Su-27, Su-30 and Su-34; 10 attack and military transport helicopters such as Ka-52, Aligator, Mi-8, Mi-24 and Mi-17; 7 UAVs, cruise and aircraft missiles.

“By the way, there was a tactical airborne assault of the enemy on the board of two hostile helicopters Mi-8. We need to add that not only organic firepower (of local and foreign production) of the AD but also an antitank weapon and heavy guns provide downing the air targets,” goes in the statement.

The Ministry of Defence says that in the Kharkiv region the servicemen of antitank unit 95 of the air assault brigade of the UAF destroyed two Mi-8 and two Ka-51 Aligator with anti-tank missile complexes Korsar and Stugna-P.

In the east of the country, while the air attack, the servicemen of Sicheslavsk independent airborne brigade 25 downed with a machine gun DShK the enemy’s helicopter Mi-8.

“The professional work of our antiaircraft gunners rescued lives of hundreds of civilians. In particular, in the Mykolayiv region, the antiaircraft gunners of independent airborne brigade 80 of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces destroyed 4 russian cruise missiles with a help of MANPADS Igla. And one serviceman, a member of independent airmobile brigade 81, personally destroyed 2 bomber-fighters Su-34 of aerospace forces of the armed forces of the rf,” informed the Ministry.

As of the morning of 8 April 2022, russia lost nearly 19 thousand servicemen, 700 tanks and 333 gun systems.
