The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine decisively rejected the accusations of the President of Serbia Aleksandr Vučić, who stated that Ukraine and the unnamed country of the European Union were behind the reports of mines on Serbian planes flying to russia.
"(We - tr.) decisively reject the groundless accusations of the President of Serbia. His statements about Ukraine's alleged involvement to the reports of mines on Serbian planes flying to russia are not true," said the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Oleg Nikolenko.
The Ministry also expressed disappointment that Serbia has not yet joined the EU sanctions imposed on russia over its unprovoked war against Ukraine.
"Every day russia strikes rockets and bombs Ukrainian cities, kills civilians, destroys civilian infrastructure. Tough sanctions and the unity of the democratic world can stop this war. We call on Belgrade to stand up for the truth and fully support Ukraine and defend values on which a united democratic Europe is established," Nikolenko said.
Earlier Vučić said that his country will continue flights to russia despite the message about "mining" of planes. Serbia is not a member of the EU and has refused to impose sanctions on russia over the war in Ukraine.
