The United States has introduced the Temporary Protected Status [TPS] announced in early March for Ukrainian citizens who were physically in the country.

This was announced by the Head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak.

According to him, the relevant decision has been entered in the Federal Register and will be published on April 19, 2022.

"I should point out that at the request of the Ukrainian side, the date for which Ukrainian citizens were to be in the United States to qualificate for the TPS was postponed from March 1 to April 11, 2022. Thus, Ukrainian citizens who were physically in the United States on April 11, will be able to use this program, "Yermak wrote on social media.

He also explained that the temporary protection status will allow Ukrainians to stay in the United States for up to 18 months with the opportunity to apply for a work permit in the country.

Ukrainian refugees will also have the right to live and work in the European Union for up to three years in accordance with the emergency plan.
