The US State Department is reviewing all available tools to bring russia to justice for the full-scale attack on Ukraine, including the possibility of declaring russia a state that supports terrorism.
According to US State Department spokesman Ned Price, it may take several weeks to make a decision.
According to the State Department, a country is considered a state sponsor of terrorism if it "has repeatedly supported acts of international terrorism." Currently, there are only four countries on the list in the United States: North Korea, Iran, Cuba and Syria.
Russia's designation as a sponsor of terrorism could have a number of consequences, including the imposition of economic sanctions on states that continue to do business with russia, the freezing of Moscow's assets in the United States, including real estate, and a ban on various exports of dual-use goods.
Earlier, the White House announced that the United States will officially recognize russia's actions in the war against Ukraine as genocide.
