Putin is hosting a second Chechnya in Mariupol, the US embassy

The russian army uses the same tactics in Mariupol as during the war of aggression in Chechnya - it mocks civilians and holds them in "filtration" camps.

This is stated in a message of the US Embassy on Twitter.

"Putin's tactics do not change. In the filtration camps in Chechnya, russia also beat, tortured, and executed civilians. We support Ukraine," the statement said.

It is noted that at least 20,000 people are being held by russians for "filtration" southwest of Mariupol. Another 5,000 to 7,000 people are in a camp near the village of Bezimenne in the Donetsk region. The occupiers plan to deport them to russia.

It should be noted that russia is destroying the infrastructure of Ukrainian cities and towns, killing and torturing civilians, and not providing humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians. The aftermath of the bombing, rocket, and artillery shelling of Mariupol and other cities is reminiscent of what russian troops did to the Chechen capital, Grozny, on the border in 1994 and 1995. Then the city of Grozny, with a population of almost half a million, was wiped off the face of the earth, tens of thousands of people died and went missing, and all factories and plants were destroyed.

Mariupol has been under complete siege since early March.

The battles for the city do not stop. The russian occupiers do not provide humanitarian corridors either for evacuation or for the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Today, Deputy Commander of the Azov Regiment Sviatoslav Palamar, which is defending the city, said that the “Azovstal” plant in Mariupol had been bombed and almost completely destroyed. According to him, the russians are dropping "super-powerful bombs" on the plant. At the same time, the Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko did not confirm the information that one of the bombs hit a hospital near “Azovstal”.
