Ukraine should get maximum support to prevent russia's victory in the war. This was stated by Polish President Andrzej Duda after a video conference between the Presidents of the United States, France, Germany, Great Britain, Canada, Italy, Poland and Romania, Ukrinform reports.According to him, today everyone is witnessing the resumption of the russian military offensive in Ukraine, which was already expected and known to NATO intelligence.
"The assessment of this situation among the participants of today's meeting led by President Joe Biden is absolutely clear: everyone understands that Ukraine needs support, Ukraine receives this support from individual countries as much as possible," Duda said, noting that participants of the meeting declared further humanitarian and material assistance to Ukraine.
The Polish President noted that the leaders also discussed sanctions policy. He expressed hope that the parties would agree to expand sanctions against russia. In particular, more and more Heads of states are inclined to believe that sanctions should apply to oil and gas, so that the russian federation does not receive funds to finance the war.
Duda noted that during the event, all leaders stressed the need to punish the russian federation for war crimes in Ukraine: "This issue should concern not only the political leadership - Vladimir Putin and his entourage and generals - but also officers and soldiers. There should be an awareness that crimes will be investigated, prosecutors are already working on it, documentation is being collected, "he said.
The Polish leader said that a clear declaration was made among the leaders of the countries: russia cannot be allowed to win this war. "If russia wins, it will continue to attack, it will not stop at what it has gained in Ukraine," the Polish President said.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, after a video conference with the Heads of states and governments of international partners, as well as NATO and EU leaders, called on Putin to immediately stop shelling and withdraw troops from the territory.
