Ukraine got aircraft and parts for the planes from other countries to increase its aircraft fleet size for defending against russian aggression. John Kirby, Pentagon’s spokesman, said at the briefing, reports the Voice of America.

“Ukraine received the support of other countries in order to get some of their aircrafts operable again. Today Ukraine has more available fixed-wing fighter aircraft than two weeks ago. And that is not by the accident,” he said.

Kirby added that other nations who have experience with those kinds of aircraft have been able to help them get more aircraft up and running

“The Ukrainians got additional aircraft and aircraft parts,” explained the spokesman of the Pentagon.

Meanwhile, Kirby has not clarified which countries exactly and what kinds of aircraft he is talking about. He added that other countries helped Kyiv with tanks following a similar scheme as well.

“The Ukrainians have got tanks from other countries. I mean the kinds of tanks they are familiar with and they know how to use them. Some countries provided tanks, other countries provided their parts for them to get some of their vehicles operable again,” said Kirby.

Earlier Ukraine asked its western partners to close the sky over the country or to provide it with aircraft and air defense capabilities in order to protect civilians from attacks by russian missiles and aviation. It was reported that in particular, Ukraine wanted to get the aircraft of Soviet production, used by the Armed Forces of Poland.

Jen Psaki, the press secretary of the White House, said earlier that the US didn’t mind against Poland sending its aircraft to Ukraine and didn’t block this step but this must be a decision of the Polish government.
