Germany will end oil imports from russia by the end of year, said Baerbock after a meeting with her Baltic counterparts, reports Reuters.
"I therefore say here clearly and unequivocally that yes, Germany is also completely phasing out Russian energy imports. We will halve oil by the summer and will be at 0 by the end of the year, and then gas will follow, in a joint European roadmap, because our joint exit, the complete exit of the European Union, is our common strength," said Baerbock.
Today the president of the European Commission called oil imports from russia "subject of interest" of further sanctions in response to russia starting war in Ukraine.
Ukraine has been insisting on an oil and gas embargo since the first days of russia's full-scale attack. European countries pay enormous amounts of money to russian federation for energy supply and this allows russians continue killing Ukrainians.
According to Deutsche Welle, russia’s share in German oil and gas supply is 24%, in coal – more than 50%.
