The Latvian Parliament unanimously approved the recognition of the war in Ukraine as genocide. This was reported by Ukrinform with the reference to the statement text.
The Latvian Seimas has expressed support for the initiative of democratic countries to unite in the investigation of russia's war crimes committed in Ukraine. Deputies condemned the military aggression of the russians and their invasion of Ukraine with the participation of the Belarusian regime.
The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Richards Coles, emphasized that the world needs to continue and expand arms supplies to Ukrainians and immediately stop importing fossil fuels from russia.
Today the decision to declare war a genocide of Ukrainians was made by Estonia. It is the first state to vote in favor of the decision after the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine recognized the genocide on April 14.
