The United States has expanded the list of russian citizens and companies subject to sanctions.

This was reported by "Radio Svoboda" with reference to the US Department of the Treasury.

The list includes 29 individuals and 40 legal entities, including the "Tsargrad" channel, owned by businessman Konstantyn Malofeiev, known as a sponsor of the DPR (Donetsk People's Republic) and LPR (Luhansk People's Republic) militants.

Sanctions have also been implemented against people connected to bank "Otkritie," including Mykhailo Zadornov, chairman of the bank's board, and Ksenia Yudaieva, first deputy head of russia's Central Bank.

Malofeiev, who is already under US sanctions, became subject to additional restrictions that refer to his channel and other businesses. In addition, the businessman's son Konstantyn also became subject to sanctions.

The sanctions also affected "Transcapitalbank." This is the operator of the new payment system Hello, registered in russia. It was expected that with the help of Hello, it would be possible to make money transfers within russia, cross-border transfers in rubles, dollars, euros, and yuan, and transit transfers without opening an account.

The US Department of the Treasury said people and organizations on the new list had previously tried to circumvent existing restrictions.

After the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, the United States and Western countries implemented tough sanctions against the Kremlin. They affected not only high-ranking officials and businessmen but also ordinary citizens. For example, Visa and Mastercard payment systems stopped working in russia at the beginning of March. As a result, their owners can no longer use them to pay abroad or shop in international online stores.
