President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that almost no people left in the world who do not understand that Russia's war against Ukraine is just the beginning.
He stated this in a video message.
"An important meeting took place in Germany today at the level of defense ministers of Ukraine's partner states. The key issue is to strengthen the protection of the whole of Europe from russia's aggressive ambitions... The ultimate goal of russia's leadership is not only to seize the territory of Ukraine but also to divide the entire center and east of Europe into pieces and give a global blow to democracy. The free world, therefore, has the right to self-defense. And that is why it will help Ukraine even more," Zelenskyy said.
He thanked Great Britain and personally Prime Minister Boris Johnson for responding quickly and positively to Ukraine's request for trade liberalization. Britain has announced the abolition of all duties and quotas on imports of Ukrainian goods. This will allow Ukraine to save thousands of jobs during the war and ensure a significant intensification of economic relations with Britain.
The President noted that he expects similar decisions from other partners.
"There is only one way to avoid the crisis: to strengthen cooperation and put pressure on russia so that it gives up this war," Zelenskyy said.
He also stressed that a new package of sanctions from the European Union would be adopted soon, including even more restrictions on trade.
"Inevitably, most countries will renounce russian oil and other russian energy resources. No adequate country will want to invite Rosatom to cooperate. Most russians will have to pay by getting into poverty because of the aggressive policy of their government," Zelenskyy said.
The European Commission is preparing to impose an oil embargo against russia.
