A senior U.S. defense official said the United States does not believe there is a threat of russia's use of nuclear weapons, despite the recent escalation of Moscow's rhetoric. This was reported by RBC with reference to Reuters.
"We continue to monitor their nuclear capabilities every day the best we can and we do not assess that there is a threat of the use of nuclear weapons and no threat to NATO territory" the official said.
Earlier, russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said about the "real danger" of the outbreak of World War III and serious threats of the use of nuclear weapons. The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba called this statement an evidence that russia feels defeated in the war against Ukraine.
