Russia uses the ammunition of the separatist Moldova region Transnistria for weapon smuggling. The Defence Intelligence (DI) of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine representative Vadym Skibitskyy said that on-air on the "Current time" channel.
Some more ammunition from the Transnistrian warehouses in the village Cobasna is used for the russians' training to practice defence and counteroffensive.
Skibitskyy added that the current situation in the region was a clear message about Russia's readiness to use the territory of Transnistria as an additional foothold for its aggression not only against Ukraine but probably against Moldova as well.
"We are monitoring the development of the situation in Transnistria. There is a serious standoff among the local officials and the russian federation's special services are working very actively. The terrorist attacks committed on the "PMR" [Pridnestrovian Moldovian Republic – tr.] were aimed at forcing the Transnistrian authorities to agree to the increasing of russian troops' presence. Besides, the explosions at facilities will be presented as a threat to the region's population and a signal to the Republic of Moldova authorities to give up its pro-European politics. The main goal is to keep this region entirely under moscow's control as it has been trying to do for 30 years," – he stated.
As the intelligence officer says, the terrorist attacks themselves are very typical for the russian FSS [Federal Security Service – tr.]. According to the DI, everything that's going on in Transnistria now is controlled by the russian special service.
According to the current data from Ukrainian intelligence, the FSS will continue the series of provocative terrorist attacks in Transnistria.
On the evening of 23 April, the separatist Moldovan region Transnistria declared that its "ministry of state security" building had been shelled. As was stated, there were no casualties.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned that the Transnistrian enforcers could commit sabotage operations in Ukraine. However, there were no signs of Transnistrian armed groups' preparations to fight against Ukraine.
But on 26 April, the UAF General Staff stated that russian forces in Transnistria were put on full alert. Two communication towers in Transnistria were blown up the same day.
Besides, according to our intelligence, the rf is preparing a rocket attack on Transnistria with casualties among civilians. Ukraine has nothing to do with the provocation.
