The European Union may impose sanctions on russia's nuclear industry, reports Politico.
According to the publication, Germany is ready to support such sanctions, while the Baltic states and Poland have been most active in promoting them.
Many MEPs also called for russia's nuclear industry to be included in EU sanctions.
"Germany's envoy to the EU on Wednesday announced Berlin's new position, saying he agrees with oil sanctions and actively supports the phasing out of oil and the ban on russian uranium," Politico quoted an unnamed European diplomat as saying.
The European Union is likely to approve a phased embargo on russian oil under the sixth package of sanctions. It will also include sanctions against russia's largest bank, Sberbank.
