John Coates, chairman of the Australian Olympic Committee and vice-president of the International Olympic Committee, is initiating the issuance of humanitarian visas to Ukrainian athletes who intend to move to Australia at the time of russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) will support Ukrainian athletes' humanitarian visa applications and will seek higher authorities' support to help in all issues," Coates said.

The head of the Australian Olympic Committee also said that the AOC will contribute USD100,000 to the Solidarity Fund to help the Ukrainian Olympic Community.

Earlier, the russian federation's occupying troops killed 14-year-old weightlifter Alina Peregudova and her mother in Mariupol.
