156 civilians arrived in Zaporizhia today. They were evacuated on May 1 from Mariupol, which is under siege by the russian occupiers.
This was announced by the Head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak.
"Finally in safe. Today 156 civilians, whom we evacuated on May 1 from Mariupol and from the territory of the “Azovstal'' metallurgical plant, arrived in Zaporizhzhia. It was a difficult road, the russians were detaining the buses with inspections, but now we have completed the rescue operation," he wrote in the Telegram channel.
He also stressed that the authorities continue to deal with the issue of evacuation from Mariupol and “Azovstal”.
"Ukraine is doing everything to take away our people and the military," Yermak added.
Today almost two thousand Mariupol residents are waiting for evacuation near Berdyansk. Of the 14 evacuation buses with residents of Mariupol, only three reached the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government. The fate of the remaining 11 is unknown.
