Despite provocations and shelling from russian occupants, today 50 women, children and elderly people were evacuated from the "Azovstal" plant. The operation will continue tomorrow, the Minister of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk informed.

"Today we were evacuating civilians from Azovstal. On the way back we had to take people from Port City. Unfortunately, we couldn`t make it on time. Because the whole day the convoy had to stay near Azovstal. There was fighting and other provocations. The enemy was constantly violating the ceasefire. That's why the evacuation was very slow. But today we managed to evacuate 50 women, children, and elderly people from Azovstal. We will continue the evacuation tomorrow morning," she wrote in her Telegram channel.

If everything goes according to plan, the buses will take people to Bezimenne. There people from Port City will join the Azovstal convoy that will go to Zaporizhzhia the next day.

"I sincerely apologize to all the people from Mariupol who were waiting for evacuation buses in vain. Everything should work out tomorrow. We are gathering at 5 pm near Port Citi," added Vereshchuk.

On May 4, 344 people were evacuated from Mariupol via humanitarian corridor. There were women, children, and elderly people from Mariupol, Mangush, Berdiansk, Tokmak, and Vasylivka. They all arrived to Zaporizhzhia.

Earlier President Zelenskyy had a phone call with the Secretary-General of the UN and asked him to facilitate evacuation of wounded from Azovstal. He also emphasized that for rescuing people the continuation of the ceasefire is needed.
