Over 16.6 thousand appeals to search for missing Ukrainians were directed to the hotline of the Ukrainian People's Rights Ombudsman since February 24.

Ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova announced this on Telegram.

Ludmila Denisova passed the data on the missing people to the European Commissioner for Human Rights, Dunja Mijatovic, who is on a four day visit to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian ombudsman plans to work together with representatives of the International Commission on Missing Persons to use a joint mechanism to find them. According to Liudmyla Denysova, Dunja Mijatovic welcomed such cooperation and added that it would make it possible to achieve real results.

The EC Commissioner for Human Rights also said that by her presence in Ukraine, she was showing the EC's solidarity with the people of our country. Mijatović visited the cities in the Kyiv region liberated from the russian forces.

Dunja Mijatović plans to make a report to the Committee of Ministers of the European Council on the events in Ukraine following a four-day working visit to Ukraine.
