The inauguration ceremony of Emmanuel Macron, who was re-elected for a second term, took place in France today.

This was reported by CNN.

In his inauguration speech, Macron said France had chosen "an independence project in a destabilized world."

"Other nations decided to hold back while following the nationalist temptation, nostalgia, and songs of ideological sirens that we believed were left the last century, but the people of France have chosen a clear project of the future. This is a republican and European project," - said Macron.

The President of France mentioned the war in Ukraine, emphasizing the need to do everything possible to avoid escalation. He said that France should help democracy and courage win in Ukraine and build new peace in Europe.

Emmanuel Macron defeated Marine Le Pen in the second round of the presidential election on 24 April 2022. As a result, his second term officially begins on 14 May 2022.

Macron stated that France would increase its financial assistance to Ukraine to $ 2bn.
