The head of the Bundestag of Germany Berbel Bass arrived in Kyiv on May 8.
A photo of Ukrzaliznytsia's train with Ms. Bass was posted on Twitter by Enrico Brissa, head of the Bundestag's protocol.
"Today, May 8, she will honor the memory of all victims of World War II and National Socialist tyranny and hold political talks," he said.
This month, the leader of the German CDU party, Friedrich Merz, also visited Ukraine. He was in Kyiv and Irpin and held talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the mayor of the capital, Vitaliy Klitschko.
After that, Zelenskyy spoke by phone with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. According to German media, Steinmeier wanted to pay a visit to Kyiv in April, but President Volodymyr Zelenskyy allegedly did not invite him. The reason given is the close ties of the German politician with russia in the past.
The President of Ukraine, in turn, stated that he had not received Steinmeier's request for a visit. And Chancellor Scholz called Kyiv's decision offensive. However, he rejected accusations that Germany is in no hurry to provide military assistance to Ukraine.
