Zelensky: Ukraine's ultimate goal is to ensure the complete withdrawal of russian troops from all over Ukraine - statement G7

G7 leaders condemned russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and called for unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. This is stated in the final statement of the “Group of Seven”. At the same time, the leaders noted that during the conversation, President Zelensky stated that “Ukraine's ultimate goal is to ensure the complete withdrawal of russian military forces and equipment from all over Ukraine and its ability to defend itself in the future”.

Following the talks, G7 leaders assured President Zelensky of “constant readiness to make further commitments to help Ukraine secure its free and democratic future so that Ukraine can defend itself now and deter future acts of aggression”.

With this goal in mind, the Group of Seven promised to continue ongoing military and defense assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and to expand cooperation on protection against information and cyber threats. At the same time, the G7 promised that it would continue to “support Ukraine in improving its economic and energy security”.

The Group of Seven said it would continue to provide financial support to Ukraine to help Ukraine “close financial gaps and provide basic services to its people, and develop options - in cooperation with Ukrainian authorities and international financial institutions - to support long-term recovery and reconstruction”, the statement said.

The G7 has vowed to work “to bring to justice President Putin and the architects and accomplices of the aggression, including Lukashenko's regime in Belarus, for their actions under international law”. At the same time, the Group of Seven condemned russia's attempts to replace the democratically elected Ukrainian local government with an illegitimate one.

“We do not recognize these actions, which violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine”, the statement said.

At the same time, G7 leaders have pledged to phase out dependence on russian energy, including by phasing out or banning russian oil imports. Take measures to ban the provision of key services on which russia depends to strengthen its isolation in all sectors of its economy.

“We will also continue to take action against russian banks related to the global economy and systemically critical to russia's financial system. We have already seriously impaired russia's ability to finance its war of aggression by attacking its Central Bank and major financial institutions”, the statement said.

The Group of Seven has vowed to continue its efforts “to repel the russian regime's attempts to spread its propaganda” and to step up its campaign against Russia's financial elites and their families, “who support President Putin in his military efforts and squander the “ussian people's resources”.

The G7, along with the United Nations, called on russia to end its blockade of Ukrainian ports and any other activity “that further hampers Ukraine's food production and exports, in line with its international obligations”. Failure to do so will be seen as an attack on the world's food security.

“We will intensify our efforts to help Ukraine maintain production for the next harvest and export season, including alternative routes”.

Following the meeting, US President Joe Biden wrote on Twitter: “Today I spoke with G7 leaders and President Zelensky about our iron unity and commitment to continue to strengthen Ukraine and increase Putin's pain”.
