With his actions in Ukraine, russian President Volodymyr Putin has dishonored the memory of the millions who died in the battle against fascism for freedom in Europe.
"Ukrinform" reports that the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, stated this at a joint press conference in Kyiv with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Today, in Europe, we celebrate Victory Day, when decades ago soldiers from allied countries, Ukraine and russia, stood side by side and defeated fascism. And what Volodymyr Putin is doing today, during the last weeks, has dishonored a cherished memory of millions of people, including russians who gave their lives for freedom and defeated fascism. This is Putin's legacy in Europe," said Trudeau.
He assured that Canada would show support and act in solidarity with Ukraine against Putin and what he had done in Ukraine.
The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, is in Ukraine on 8 May 2022. Before meeting with Zelenskyy, he visited the city of Irpin in the Kyiv region.
