The UK does not understand how it is now possible to normalize relations with russian president volodymyr putin.
This Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on the air of LBC Radio.
In his opinion, if we start talking with the Kremlin again, then 2014 can be repeated, when russia occupied Crimea and contributed to the creation of the so-called "DPR" and "LPR."
"Now repentance will be very hard for volodymyr putin... I believe there is nothing impossible, but I simply cannot understand how we can now normalize relations with putin," - he said.
Boris Johnson recalled that in 2014, the vast majority of countries condemned the occupation of Crimea and did not recognize it as russian territory. Sanctions against russia were imposed, but at the same time, EU countries "seemed to start talking to putin about the future."
"And putin, in general, used it as a way to "turn a knife" in Ukraine... It needs to be stopped, and this is what the UK is trying to do, giving Ukrainians all possible military support for self-defense. And we will continue to do that," - Johnson concluded.
Earlier, at the meeting of the leaders of the G7, Boris Johnson spoke about the fact that Ukraine needs more offensive weapons to repel the occupied territories from the russian occupiers.
By the way, the UK promised to provide Ukraine with new military assistance for 1.3 billion pounds (1.6 billion dollars).
