The heads of European countries and governments plan to discuss Ukraine's application to join the European Union in June. This was reported by the French MFA.
"Ukraine's request to join the EU will be the subject of discussions at the level of heads of state and government during a meeting of the European Council in June," said the representative of the agency.
The French Foreign Ministry recalled the words of French President Emmanuel Macron and Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian that Ukraine is a part of the European family.
On 18 April Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy handed over a completed questionnaire for Ukraine's EU candidate status to Matti Maasikas, the Head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine.
The Head of the Ukrainian MFA Dmytro Kuleba has said that Ukraine cannot join the EU immediately without going through the necessary procedures, "jumping over someone's head”. However, Ukraine expects to receive the status of a candidate in June.
