Russian troops are heavily shelling settlements in the Donetsk region and are doing everything to block the exit of humanitarian convoys from dangerous regions.
Tetiana Lomakina, the coordinator of actions on humanitarian corridors from the Presidential Office, stated this in the Media Center “Ukraine”.
“Evacuation is very difficult. To open up the possibility for humanitarian corridors, there needs to be a cease-fire negotiation. And that's what our negotiating team will be pushing for, so that the moving of people can be resumed so that they can go to safer areas of Ukraine,” Lomakina said.
33 people were killed by russian shelling of evacuation convoys. Among the dead were five children. The National Police has initiated 74 criminal proceedings over the shelling of evacuation convoys.
By the way, since the beginning of the russian invasion of Ukraine, 326 civilians have been killed by shelling and bombing in the Donetsk region.
