Due to russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, more than 14m Ukrainians left their homes, and eight million of them became internally displaced persons.
The UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Joyce Msuya said this at the UN Security Council meeting on 12 May.
"Nearly 14m Ukrainians have been forced to flee their homes, 8 million of whom are internally displaced. 227 partners, most national NGOs have provided humanitarian assistance to more than 5.4mpeople, many in the east," said Joyce Msuya.
Dmytro Lubinets, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, Deoccupation and Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, said that almost 11m Ukrainians had become internally displaced persons or left the country due to the war.
