The United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with another £ 1.3 bn in military support and assistance.

Today, Boris Johnson and Volodymyr Zelenskiy had a telephone conversation, discussing a number of issues, including military support and global food security.

Johnson also expressed admiration for the brave defenders of Mariupol and called on russia to treat all prisoners of war with dignity and respect.

The British prime minister has announced an additional £1.3 bn in military aid to Ukraine and has backed defense, including long-range artillery, shore-to-ship missiles and drones.

Johnson and Zelenskiy agreed to step up work with allies, including the United States, France and Germany, to define a long-term security architecture for Ukraine. They also considered options for opening important sea and land routes for the supply of Ukrainian grain.

The Prime Minister congratulated Zelenskiy on the occasion of the Embroidery Day and reaffirmed the unwavering solidarity of the United Kingdom with the people of Ukraine.

Earlier, The Guardian and Reuters reported that Britain had promised Ukraine new military aid of £ 1.3 bn ($ 1.6 bn). This amount is almost twice the previous costs for Ukraine.

Funds to help Ukraine will be taken from the emergencies reserve.
