In the Slobozhanshchyna direction, the russian occupiers started restoring the railway infrastructure in the Kupyansk area to transfer troops and cargo more quickly.

The General Staff of the UAF (Armed Forces of Ukraine) reported it.

The russian occupiers intensified shelling and tried to break through the Ukrainian defense in some areas. Thus, in the Sloviansk area, the invaders continued firing rounds at municipalities along the contact line. In some areas, the russians tried to conduct reconnaissance-in-force but suffered losses and retreated.

The ruscists [russian fascists] tried to break through the Ukrainian defense in the Donetsk area to reach the Luhansk region's administrative borders.

The invaders continued to fire on units of the Defense Forces in the Lyman and Sievierodonetsk areas.

They also fired rounds at the municipalities of Lyman, Zakitne, Ozerne, and Dibrova. At Sievierodonetsk, they tried to launch an offensive to seize the village of Oleksandrivka but failed.

The russian army conducted war actions in the municipalities of Toshkivka, Komyshuvakha, Trypillya, and Vasylivka to improve the tactical position of its units in the Bakhmut area.

The situation in other areas as of 18.00 on 22 May 2022 is as follows:

In Volyn and Polissia areas, the Belarusian military continues covering the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. The threat of airstrikes from the territory of Belarus remains.

In the Siversk area, russia is strengthening control of the Ukrainian-russian border in the Bryansk and Kursk regions. It also fires rounds on municipalities and civilian infrastructure in Sumy and Chernihiv regions.

In the Kharkiv direction, the invaders did not take active action during the day. But on the other hand, the russians strengthened the police-managed regime in the temporarily occupied territories.

In the Avdiivka, Kurakhiv, Novopavliv, and Zaporizhzhia areas, the occupiers reduced the intensity of war actions. However, the regrouping of enemy units continues to strengthen specific areas.

Pivdennyi Buh area also stays without active war actions. However, the russian invaders are working to build a second line of defense, strengthen artillery groups and increase the air defense system there.

The situation is tense in the Bessarabia area (Transnistria region of Moldova). The task force personnel of the russian troops stay at advanced alert status. An inspection of local military units was conducted.

In the Black Sea and Azov sea areas, russian ship groups continue to conduct tasks to isolate combat areas and block civilian shipping.

The russian contingent deployed in the Transnistrian region of Moldova received a task to restore a military airfield and equipment in Tiraspol.

On 22 May 2022, the russian military fired grenade launchers rounds at a village in the Chernihiv region.
