Russia will stop supplying gas to the Netherlands on May 31. The decision was made after the GasTerra trader refused to pay Gazprom in rubles.
About 15% of imported gas is supplied to the Netherlands from russia, writes The Guardian.
The company noted that payment for gas in rubles could lead to violations of EU sanctions.
The cessation of supplies by Gazprom means that by the end of the contract on October 1, 2022, the Netherlands will not receive about 2 billion cubic meters of gas. GasTerra is going to buy this volume from other suppliers.
Earlier, for refusing to pay in rubles, russia cut off gas supplies to Poland, Romania and Finland. The russian authorities came up with the requirement to pay in rubles in March, after the West imposed sanctions in response to the invasion of Ukraine.
